London’s First Newcomer Affordable Housing Build
For newcomers to Canada, the journey here is more than just challenging; it’s a path filled with uncertainty, hope, and the dream of a better life. Building language proficiency, adjusting to a new culture, and dealing with experiences of loss are some of the difficulties they face. The limited rental supply and the accelerating rental rates have created hardship for all of London’s vulnerable population. In response, the London Cross Cultural Learner Centre is seeking to develop a long-term affordable rental housing complex for newcomers.
Building a Welcoming Community
Without a place to call home, everything else fades away.
It creates:
Barriers to education and employment
Feelings of stress, anxiety, and isolation
But Welcome Home is more than just bricks and mortar; it’s about:
Restoring Safety and Dignity
Empowering Refugee Families
Providing a Fresh Start, Free from Trauma
Building a Future of Resilience and Hope
